[Ah. Felix winces, picking up his fork again.]

Trust me. That wasn't an issue. She's going through a bit of a disbarment situation right now. But she's lovely. Really. She's been nothing but happy about spending time with me, even though Sarah was being a total bitch to her.

[Alison's smile does drop just the slightest bit at the mention of disbarment, but she rallies it back for Felix's sake.]

Oh, well, surely it's just a temporary setback. I'm surprised Sarah's not being more supportive...

[But when she actually thinks about it, she realizes she probably shouldn't be that surprised. With everything that's been going on, Sarah's likely used to being the centre of attention.]

[He snorts disbelievingly, fixing her with a look.]

Really? You know what she's like. God forbid someone do something that's not about her for once.

... I'm sure she'll come around, Felix. What about Siobhan?

[Hopefully her response was more enthusiastic and she can divert this conversation from Sarah, since it's obviously upsetting him so much.]

Oh, she's fine with it. She wants me to be careful with all that other shit that's going on in our lives, but she has no problem with me getting to know her.

[He's still kind of sulky about Sarah, but that's a hard feeling for him to shift.]

Then I'm sure she'll set Sarah straight in no time. I doubt she'll stand for that kind of nonsense.

[You're probably not helping, Alison.]

[Felix sighs, looking up from his plate.]

Darling. I know you're trying to be helpful, and I appreciate it. I do. Just... do you think we could try and forget about Sarah for the moment?

[Maybe he's the one actually dwelling, but it's hard not to get caught up in his frustrations.]

You're free to steer the conversation anyway you'd like, Felix.

Do you have the Verdehills photos?

Oh, yes, I took a few on my phone. Here...

[She pulls up the appropriate folder and hands it over for Felix to scroll through. There's a lot of peach, pink, and glossy lips. The bride and her various bridesmaids look happy in the photos, at least.]

[Despite his earlier assurances that he knew she could do make up (and she can!), Felix can't help the disapproving noise he makes as he looks few the pictures.]


Do you think they'd maybe consider going a few tones... I don't know. Brighter. Maybe a little less peach?

[She's a little insulted, but she tries to hide it. Poorly.]

I'm sure they would, but I decided to play it safe and go with my strengths rather than lose them over an outright terrible make-up trial.

[newwaver]

No, no. It's lovely. [Besides how poorly peach works with at least two of the bridesmaids...]

It's just... not what I would have chosen.

Well, you can call them to apologize for your absence and arrange another make-up trial when their schedule allows.

[If her curt tone doesn't clue Felix in to her bad mood now, they way her words are short and clipped should.]

[Felix is bad at apologies, but he's clearly upset her. That definitely hadn't been his intention, not when she was being so supportive.]

No. You know what? We'll keep it. They obviously really like what you did for them. I just... I'm sorry. You know I tend to go overboard anyway.

[subourbon]

[She sighs, shaking her head and making a valiant attempt to let it go.]

No, it's fine. Anyway, part of why they signed on with us is that they liked what you did with the Moorehead wedding. And I'll have enough on my plate that day without having to do make-up on top of it.
